GCMES Covid-19 virus. Update. April 2021
Following the easing of guide lines, Society Members will be on site to carry out essential repairs, site maintenance, along with testing of the track, locomotives and rolling stock.
The site will remain closed to members of the public. Unfortunately, the society will not be offering train rides until further easing of restrictions allow.
Whilst we are looking forward to getting back to some sort of normal, it can still seem a long way off before we are able to open for public rides again. We know that many of you would love to come down to the Windmill site to support us and have a ride on the trains, but there is another way you can support us without even leaving your home!
If you shop online at Amazon, why not consider using AmazonSmile instead of your regular Amazon home page?
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support a charity of your choice every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop with AmazonSmile, you just use the same account as your normal amazon.co.uk, and you’ll find the exact same low prices on both sites. The difference is, by using Amazon Smile, a donation of 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases will be sent directly to the charity of your choice.
To shop at AmazonSmile simply go to smile.amazon.co.uk on your web browser or activate AmazonSmile on your Amazon Shopping app on your phone (found under ‘settings’ on your app). When you are prompted to add your charity of choice, simply choose “Grimsby and Cleethorpes Model Engineering Society” from the dropdown list, and we will receive the donation from your purchases once the transaction is complete.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and we can’t wait to welcome you back once restrictions are lifted.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your continued support at this difficult time.
We have around 100 members with interests in all types of model engineering. Our society was formed in 1935 and caters for all aspects of the hobby and is affiliated to the Northern Association of Model Engineers. We have a clubhouse, ground level railway tracks and a roadway for traction engines located at Waltham Windmill in the village of Waltham, 4 miles from the centre of Grimsby. Meetings take place at 7.30pm on the third Tuesday evening of each month throughout the year in our clubhouse, Hartley Lodge, at the Waltham Windmill site. We usually operate rides for the public on Sundays between the beginning of April and the end of October weather permitting.
